Shipping Out Presents


Well, finally Monday is here and I get to head out to the Post Office in just a bit to ship out all these boxes of cookies for the family down in Albany. A lot of cookies that I hope arrive safe and sound. Bad thing about shipping cookies - you basically have to pray every time you ship them out and hope for a small miracle.

Thankfully the Christmas ones all arrives safe and sound and were not powder by the time they arrived. I can only hope that I will have as good of fortune with this set. They are all packed in sealed plastic bags, tucked in paper bags, then nestled with packing material in a gift box for each. The gift boxes are all tucked tightly into a larger box with even more packing material. I really hope it is enough. If things were more financially stable right now I would probably tuck them in another box with even more padding and do it overnight Fed Ex. Oh well, next time. You know, when I am a big cookie star! LOL

Anywho, one set was left out the other day when I was posting up a storm. Dad's Birthday Set. Now, I didn't do the edible image thing with his. His I did something a tad differently. Stacked Scrapbook inspired cookies. Hope he enjoys them. ^_^ I think he will, hehe.

Okay, kids to school and then the post office. After which is a trip to the store and get working on the next set of cookies. Cinco De Mayo!!!!

Banana Bread Recipe

I was asked this morning if I knew any tricks for Banana Bread or had a recipe and of course my answer was yes. ^_~ So, here I am, posting it for a dear friend, as well as anyone else that wants it. It is a very simple recipe and I my favorite thing about it is that I don't have to wait for overly ripe bananas. I have made this with fresh out of the store bananas and ones that are sickeningly ripe. Each time it comes out perfectly. Now, this recipe is not originally mine. I will admit the base recipe is from a 1970's Betty Crocker Cookbook I picked up over a decade ago in a used bookstore. It is my holy grail, lol. I have made some alterations to the recipe that I very much enjoy and I hope you will as well. Now for the pictures of this recipe I did not use Walnuts in this batch. If you don't like walnuts but have another nut you enjoy, go for it. heck dump dried fruit in there, chocolate chips, what ever. Enjoy it! One Black Night

Yeah, as you can tell I have Halloween on the Brain! These cookies re more for those that want minimal icing on their cookie. So instead of giving the cookies a base of royal icing I just dyed the dough. It came out as a beautifully rich black that when paired with the white icing came out so much better than I thought it would. If you like these you can pick them up at my Etsy Store.

Harry Potter Invitation

Well my daughters birthday is coming up and she requested a Harry Potter Themed Birthday party, so me being me decided to go all out for her and do what I could to make it nifty. Going with what others had done before and a few ideas of my own, a massive party invitation was put together.  The most impressive part was the Marauder's Map Invitation itself. I took a map I found online at another website and altered it a bit to include a middle fold out section. Link with to the original is here - Marauders Map  - Now, this is for a flat map with no folding insert in the center. If you would like to add that, just follow the pictures and add one yourself, it is rather simple to do....After you have followed the basic steps on the other website to construct your map, follow with these steps before folding anything. First cut the inside map to fold outward. I did this on a hard surface with a razor blade to get clean lines and not tear the paper.  Then simply fold out the cent...
